This past Saturday I attended the much anticipated Femme Fatale Tour featuring Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj as the opening act at the HP Pavillion in San Jose. I attended just as a fan (it was a graduation present for my sister.) The concert was so good that I just had to write a review about it (my seats were on the upper level so please excuse the less than stellar pictures.)
I didn’t know what to expect, was she going to sing live? dance? addressed the audience? I had so many questions especially because a lot of her critics had panned her when she had the special performance for Good Morning America a few months back at the Bill Graham Auditorium in San Francisco.
Nicki Minaj was the opening act and I was definitely sold with her performance. It was as if she had a mini concert rather than just being an opening act. She sang live for most of the songs, toned it down with the swearing and did not bring a fan on stage for a lap dance like she had done when she opened for Lil Wayne. After her performance was over I had to wait for 45 minutes for Britney Spears to come on stage, let me just tell you that it was worth it!
At exactly 9:18PM Britney opened the show with the song Hold It Against Me – wearing a tight white sequined body suit and exuding confidence and sexiness. It was official, all the haters had no room to talk, Britney was back full force!
Right before the second song, she addressed the eager fans and everyone got loud and were happy to hear Britney Spears actually talk to them. One of the unexpected songs of the night was having her perform Piece Of Me which she had never done besides during her failed “come back” at the MTV awards a few years back.
During the song Lace And Leather a very lucky fan by the name of Preston got on stage with Britney and was tied up, the crowd went wild and I am sure Preston will never forget that moment. Britney also surprised her fans by singing some of the songs LIVE, she performed a new rendition of If You Seek Amy, Don’t Let Me Be the Last to Know (while being suspended high up on a swing.) She also performed some of her old hits but with a new more mature sound: Baby One More Time, I’m A Slave For You, Toxic among others.
She also brought fans on stage (who had won a contest through local radio stations) to dance with her while she performed her latest single I Wanna Go. Britney addressed the audience more time and the fans were so loud that they even got "shooshed" by Britney herself.
Britney Spears has proven once again that no matter what kind of personal problems she goes through, she is an incredible performer and despite whatever negative buzz she might get she still GOT IT, dancing, putting on a phenomenal show, selling out tours, you name it! We have Britney Spears for years to come, the princess of pop is not going anywhere! She has officially regained her throne.

A Whole Lotta Britney
Britney Spears is currently doing appearances to promote her 7th album called Femme Fatale. One of those promotional stops included her GMA appearance which aired today on ABC but was pre-taped this past Sunday at the Bill Graham Auditorium in San Francisco. I was unable to attend because ABC denied my press credentials (care to explain why you wouldn’t allow up-and-coming reporters to attend the show ABC???) Although I was unable to go I did keep up with all the tweets that mentioned Britney’s performance.
I was so shocked to read so many negative reviews about her 3-song performance, one of the comments that irk me the most was from blogger Perez Hilton who (and I quote) posted the following on his website: “The Britney that used to be able to dance fiercely is no longer. We're not exactly sure why she's gone, but - like we've said before - we'd love to find out!” I was quite infuriated and immediately tweeted him to voice my opinion against his statement. Let’s face it, he is no one to talk and although I also praise Lady Gaga for being talented, well, she is not the greatest dancer, yet Perez finds no flaws in her “dance” performances.
Here’s my take, Britney Spears has not done live performances in years, her last tour Circus was back in 2009 (it was fabulous! I attended the show in San Jose and can testify on how awesome it was.) I’d like to see all those people smashing her performances sell tours worldwide, have two kids, have a mental breakdown, put their lives back together and face critics and see if they can perform in front of thousands of people.
Britney is fierce! She is no longer that shy teenager who burst into the scene back in the late 90’s, she is now a grown woman mother of two who is doing a fantastic job with her new CD. If she would have done an elaborate and perhaps “risqué” performance, the critics would have panned her anyway, precisely because she is a mom who should not be doing those type of performances. Either way, to her critics she clearly won’t win.
However, to her fans, Britney is still and will always be the reigning Queen of Pop. She could just sit through an entire concert and people would still pay to see her. Why? Because she is Britney Spears, she has paved her way to a very successful music career and that despite the many obstacles she has faced, the support system behind her has helped her pull through and back to the top.
Britney – your fans LOVE AND ADORE YOU and wish you nothing but more success. We are all looking forward to an amazing tour and to many more albums to come.Your fans are rooting for you! SHUT DOWN the critics and continue being fierce and exude your confidence, you are THE ONE and ONLY Britney Spears!

It’s Glee Bitch!
I don’t watch that much TV, mostly because all you see are stupid “reality” shows. When the show Glee started I was a bit hesitant about it. In the back of my head I thought it was going to be an awful-singing-cheeseball-galore, but episode after episode I was proven wrong and slowly but surely I became a Gleek.
When the Lady Gaga episode rolled around I was intrigued beyond words but unfortunately was disappointed. The Madonna episode left me speechless so you will probably imagine how anxious I got when it was announced that they were planning a Britney episode.
Well, tonight came and I was glued to my couch, nothing (not even the million chores I had to do) was going to prevent me from enjoying this episode. I have been a fan of Ms. Spears since her “Baby One More Time” days, since her teenage love with Mr. Timberlake. I watched the VMA’s as she performed I’m A Slave For You and dreamt of one day having those rock hard abs. I also watched her shave her head, break a windshield with an umbrella, her “failed” comeback at the VMA’s, her actual comeback at the VMA’s and her very successful Circus tour (which gave me the inspiration for my Halloween costume last year [ring leader anyone?])
I must say this episode was AMAZING! From actress Heather Morris’ (Brittany) rendition of I’m A Slave for you, which was pretty damn good, the awesome Me Against The Music, the very cute glee-dition of Stronger courtesy of Artie & McKinley’s football team and Baby One More Time (did Ryan Murphy hired the same people who worked on the original video to work on this one?) And last but not least the song Toxic, my gosh! Matthew Morrison has such a fantastic voice (Broadway talent at its finest.)
Glee has to gimme more, gimme, gimme more! This season is definitely shaping to be a fabulous one! Any guesses as to what artist will the show play homage for the episode which will air after the Super Bowl?
