Makeup Lovers REJOICE!

How exciting is it that Katy Perry has joined the COVER GIRL family, as the new face for the brand? VERY EXCITING if I say so myself!

COVER GIRL just knows who the right women for the line are; from Queen Latifah, to Ellen DeGeneres, Janelle Monáe, NERVO, Becky G, P!nk, Sofia Vergara and now Ms. Katy Perry.

I personally cannot wait to see what new products will launch during her campaign; I foresee some 90’s inspired colors, and I would LOVE to see a vampy plum lipstick.

The Battle Of The Pop Divas is ON!

There are rumors and craziness surrounding Katy Perry’s new single “Roar.” On one hand, she is being accused of ripping off the song from Sara Barelleis’ “Brave.” There is also the showdown between her single and Lady Gaga’s “Applause”….. Which one is better? Which one is selling more copies? Blah, blah, blah!

Personally I’ve been a fan of both, well, more of Lady Gaga than of Katy Perry. At one point, I considered myself to be a “little monster,” to the point of standing outside a venue to catch a glimpse of her (which I did.) But then, she got a little too weird for me, and I didn’t care about her music all that much. I was also a fan of Katy Perry. I remember the first performance I ever saw of her. It was back in 2008, at Warped Tour, she was still dating Travie McCoy of Gym Class Heroes, and there were about 30 of us who knew who she was, and watched her performed… but then she got on the "demanding-diva-cloud," and I stopped caring about her music as well.

To be fair and square, when both singles were released (earlier than expected since both were leaked); I gave both of them a chance. I heard them both, and to my surprise, “Roar” came on top, not only to my ears delight, but the success also reflected on the numbers. In its first full week of sales, “Roar” has sold an impressive over 557,000 copies, while Lady Gaga’s “Applause” has only sold a bit over 200,000.

And, while Katy Perry has done her share of promotion with teaser videos, big rigs traveling around the country, and the oh-so-cute emojis lyric video, the song has sold itself. Lady Gaga has gone on crazy-mode! Not only did she start a feud with Perez Hilton, she has gone on a twitter rampage, asking her fans to buy multiple copies of the single, promising a meet-and-greet to the fan who buys the most copies. She also posted a tweet (which has been deleted) with a link to the video where fans can watch it over and over. This desperate antic caught the eye of Billboard’s Bill Werde, who, on a series of tweets essentially said that purposely inflated video views were not the way to go about it… "I just hate to see anyone try to game the charts, be it fans or artists. It's not in the spirit of what we do, celebrating success."

Why is Lady Gaga doing this? If she is so certain of how musically magnificent “Applause” and consequently the album ArtPop is, why try to inflate the sales of her song and the views of her video? Clearly, Katy Perry is quite confident, and she is going about her business.

And, on the Pop Diva news… Britney Spears (The Princess Of Pop), added an encrypted message on her website with the following: “ALL EYES ON ME.. 26 DAYS….”

Ultimately, the fans will have the final say…. The question remains, who will come out on top? Take the poll below to cast your vote.

It’s GRAMMYS TIME! OH YEAAAAHHH! (re-read this blog on 2/13/11, don’t forget)

The awaited nominations for the Grammys were announced “live” earlier today (the whole internet blew it for all of us West Coast peeps, what is up with that???) The academy decided to have an hour long show with special performances as the nominations were announced. Among the performers were Bruno Mars, B.O.B, Katy Perry, Miranda Lambert, Justin Bieber & Train. And it was sexy LL Cool J who was in charge of hosting the show.

Katy Perry opened the show with a dreadful performance of California Gurls (can someone explain to me how does she go from giving a terrific performance at the Victoria Secret Fashion’s Show to a lackluster and quite disastrous performance tonight??)

Bruno Mars gave a superb acoustic version of his hit Just The Way You Are, it is no surprise that his CD has been doing quite good. He is indeed a very talented song-writer.

Train also came on board and performed the hit Hey Soul Sister ( I must admit that I like Glee’s version with Darren Criss a lot better.)

Country called my name! it was my first time listening to Miranda Lambert’s song Only Prettier and I was hooked! “ I got a mouth like a sailor and yours is more like a Hallmark card. If you wanna pick a fight, well, I'm gonna have to say good night. I don't have to be hateful, I can just say, "Bless your heart"

Justin Bieber performed from London an acoustic version of his song Only Girl (personally, you will know who a real artist is if they can pull off a magnificent acoustic set.) I didn’t get Bieber Fever but I do think that this kid is talented and I can see a bit of a future Justin Timberlake in him.

Bruno Mars returned to the stage to perform with B.O.B the song Nothin’ On You (if it wasn’t part of your itunes library, then you were in another planet.) When they perform together, they just click and they never disappoint.

And to close off the Grammy Nominations Special, B.O.B came on stage yet again to perform Don’t Let Me Fall (my favorite song from his CD.)

Well, I am anxious to share with you the nominees for the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards which will air on 2/13/2011 on CBS. Check out the list below and who I think will win in each category. I shall come back to this blog and see if my predictions were right. Who do you want to win?

When Lingerie Met the Firework

I love fashion as much as I love music, anytime that the two meet my heart clearly skips beats of joy. Every year I look forward to the Victoria's Secret Fashion show and although the lingerie is primarily for the runway, the show always brings amazing musical guests.

This year the execs from the show decided to have newlywed Katy Perry who has had a pretty successful year with the release of her sophomore CD Teenage Dream, accompanying Katy Perry was Akon who performed his new single Angel from his up-coming album titled Stadium.

But, before the angels graced their super skinny and toned bodies down the glittery runway we have to look into how lingerie and music (and fashion) often come hand in hand. During the telecast one can spot several celebrities be front and center for the show but the most notorious ones were Maroon 5’s front man Adam Levine who is currently dating VS Angel Anne Vyalitsyna, also in attendance was Caleb Followill from Kings Of Leon, who in September got engaged to another Angel Lily Aldridge. Another honorable mention is Debbie Harry (Blondie) who was spotted walking the pink carpet.

Katy Perry rocked the glittery runway with two pretty awesome performances; the first one was with the single called Firework which she is currently promoting. (I am not a great fan of hers anymore but I am utterly in love with this song.) She dazzled with a faboosh outfit designed by Todd Thomas. For her second performance (which was a mix of Teenage Dream, Hot & Cold and California Gurls.) She wore a yellow latex corset dress also designed by Todd Thomas.

Akon flirted with the angels while performing his new single appropriately titled Angel, during his (Heavenly Bodies segment) performance and it was during this segment that VS Angel Chanel walked down the runway with her desired pair of angel wings.

Another part of the show that I always look forward to is the music that plays during each segment. So, for you my readers I was determined to list the songs featured during the show, ENJOY!

Plan B - Stay Too Long (Pendulum Remix) (Tough Love segment)
LL Cool J - Mama Said Knock You Out/Lady GaGa - Bad Romance/ Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger (Game On segment)
Jewel - What You Are (Country Girls segment)
30 Seconds To Mars - Vox Populi (Wild Things segment)
Blondie - Call Me/ Muse – Uprising ( Finale)
