La final está cada vez más cerca, a tan solo una semana de la final han sido dos los expulsados de la casa: Rafael Caparroso y Elizabeth Prado, dejando a Domingo, Jommart, Yajayra, y Pedro compitiendo por el premio de $250.000 y por ser el ganador de esta edición de Gran Hermano. La gran final tendrá lugar el domingo 10 de abril por Telemundo a las 8pm/7pm centro.

Cuando ya son tan pocos luchando por el mismo premio, es fácil que aumenten las tensiones dentro de la casa. Pedro y Domingo, quienes han sido muy amigos desde el día uno, están enfrentados en la recta final. Pedro dice que Domingo juega con las mentes de las personas y no va de cara, Jommart está enfadada con Domingo porque la nominó con 3 puntos y se siente traicionada.

Gran Hermano: Eliminación De Andrea González

Por primera vez han sido tres mujeres nominadas y Andrea es quien ha perdido la batalla. Andrea González, venezolana de Houston, se ha convertido en la decimoprimera expulsada del programa después de estar 43 días en la casa. Ahora tan solo quedan seis habitantes en la casa y tan solo quedan dos semanas para la gran final.

En la gala de expulsión del domingo 27 de Marzo, Giselle Blondet anuncia como va a funcionar el concurso hasta la final el día 10 de abril: el próximo miércoles es la última gala de nominación y la final será protagonizada por cuatro habitantes, por lo que habrá dos eliminados en la gala de expulsión. Ya no habrá más inmunidad o pruebas del líder.

La tarea de la semana fue propuesta por Rafael Amaya, protagonista de El Señor de los Cielos. Lanzó a los habitantes el reto de recrear algunas escenas de El Señor de los Cielos.

Los siete compañeros unen fuerzas para hacer la tarea semanal y recrear partes de la famosa serie que protagoniza Rafael Amaya en Telemundo.

Los habitantes apostaron el 70% por esta tarea semanal, al final del programa Rafael les comunicó que han aprobado.

El domingo 20 de marzo, se llevó a cabo la gala de expulsión de Gran Hermano que se retransmite los domingos en Telemundo a las 8pm ET/7pm CT.

Agustín Flores, jardinero mexicano que vive en Illinois, abandona la casa después de diez semanas. Agustín desde el principio del programa ha sido considerado uno de los posibles ganadores de los 250 mil dólares, pero el público finalmente no lo ha decidido así.

Agustín se caracterizó como el más sensible y sentimental de los hombres de la casa. En varias ocasiones hemos visto a Agustín entre lágrimas y esto ha terminado convirtiéndole en uno de los débiles. Además, sus comportamientos con su novia Elizabeth han tenido consecuencias. Él afirmaba estar enamoradísimo con ella y en una fiesta acabó la noche besándose con Yaya.

Agustín perdió la credibilidad del frente al público. Trató de conquistar el corazón de varias de las mujeres de la casa, sin tener mucho éxito, lo que nunca se supo fue si era parte de su estrategia o sentía verdadera atracción por ellas. Inicialmente trató con Jommart, luego con Carolina y por último se le declaró a Yaya, sin ser correspondido por ninguna de ellas. 

Los habitantes restantes llevan conviviendo 71 días en la casa. ¿Quién crees que será el siguiente expulsado?, ¿Quién quieres que sea el ganador? No dudes en ver la próxima gala de expulsión el domingo 27 de marzo donde sabremos quién será el siguiente en abandonar la casa.

El domingo 13 de marzo, se llevó a cabo la gala de expulsión de Gran Hermano que se retransmite los domingos en Telemundo a las 8pm ET/7pm CT.

Maday Velázquez, modelo cubana que reside en Pensilvania, ha sido la novena expulsada de la casa de Gran Hermano tras estar en la casa 64 días. En la gala de la semana anterior, Giselle Blondet pidió permiso a Dante para poder hacer un examen de embarazo a Maday, ayer descubrimos que no tendrá un hijo de Dante.

Dante no hace ni una semana que dejó el concurso y Maday ya se ha besado con Pedro ante las cámaras. ¿Cuál es la opinión de Dante al respecto? Cuando se enfrentan a la salida de Maday de la casa, él afirma de manera irónica que hacen una linda pareja, que Pedro y Maday se complementan.

Después de estar más de dos meses encerrados en la casa, solo quedan ocho concursantes compitiendo por el gran premio. ¿Quién será el siguiente expulsado? ¿Quién crees que llegará a la final?

Gran Hermano: Eliminación De Carlos Uriarte

El domingo 21 de Febrero, se llevó a cabo la gala de expulsión de Gran Hermano que se retransmite los domingos en Telemundo a las 8pm ET/7pm CT.

Carlos Uriarte, el corredor inmobiliario mexicano de 27 años que reside en Texas, ha sido el sexto expulsado de la casa de Gran Hermano después de convivir con sus compañeros 43 días. Carlos aportaba gran alegría a la casa, contagió a los habitantes y televidentes sus famosas frases como: “Pow, pow, pow, pow”, “Que no te digan que no te cuenten” y "Usted no sabe quién soy yo".

Hay varias razones por las que Carlos ha sido expulsado, entre ellas sus borracheras o querer tener siempre el control de la casa. Sus compañeros le criticaban ya que cuando tomaba licor hablaba más de la cuenta, e incluso se puso muy agresivo con Pedro. Todo esto ha tenido consecuencias. Es cierto que el habitante disfrutaba tomando cada que había oportunidad, pero hay que abonarle que fue de los únicos que pudo guardar fidelidad a su actual pareja.

Carlos salió de la casa para conocer a Giselle Blondet y reencontrarse con su familia. Al llegar al estudio la presentadora le dio una noticia que nadie se esperaba: Gran Hermano ha decidido cumplir el deseo que ardía en las redes sociales y ofrecer la posibilidad de reingresar en la casa a tres habitantes expulsados, Iselis Arzola, Rafael Caparroso y Carlos Uriarte.

Esta semana ha tenido todo tipo de encuentros amorosos, jugaron botella en el jacuzzi, Andrea y Jason tuvieron su momento de intimidad bajo la cobija, Dante y Maday también disfrutaron de la habitación del líder como regalo a Dante por haber ganado una prueba, Agustín dice estar enamorado de Elizabeth, Yajayra y Jason acabaron la noche juntos después de la fiesta de los espartanos.

Jason, por ser quien cogió el teléfono rojo, tiene que estar en silencio hasta el miércoles. Tiene que llevar un cartel colgando que pone “No puedo hablar, las consecuencias pueden ser graves”.

Así se despidió Carlos de los demás habitantes al perder la votación entre sus tres compañeros también nominados:

Gran Hermano: Eliminación De El Día De San Valentín

El domingo 14 de Febrero, se llevó a cabo la gala de expulsión de Gran Hermano que se retransmite los Domingos en Telemundo a las 8pm ET/7pm CT.

Ha sido una gala de lo más completa, la expulsión de Melissa Saldívar, la pelea y posible sanción para Carlos y Pedro tras haber llegado a las manos en una pelea, y las dos nuevas habitantes de la casa, Andrea y Elizabeth. 

Melissa Saldívar, la boxeadora mexicana de 35 años de Houston, ha sido la quinta expulsada de la casa de Gran Hermano tras convivir con sus compañeros 36 días. Estos la aplaudieron en su salida de la casa, algunos contentos por su expulsión y otros como Carlos tristes por su salida. 

Ha sido expulsada en su primera nominación con, según dijo Giselle Blondet, “un número impresionante de votos del público”. Ella se considera una mujer mexicana-americana, urbanita y moderna. Entre sus expectativas están casarse y ser madre, pero su adicción a los chicos malos le ha impedido lograr ese propósito.

Melissa desde el principio ha tratado de evitar los enfrentamientos dentro de la casa, ha intentado ser neutral. Esta estrategia no fue bien vista a ojos de sus compañeros, llegaron a catalogarla de tener una doble personalidad.

Al cabo de los días fue inevitable para ella no mostrar sus diferencias con Pedro y Domingo, esto rompió sus planes y tuvo que unirse al grupo de la playa. Esta mala relación con sus dos compañeros, sumado a su repentina enemistad con Jommart, quien era su aliada, no la ha dejado bien ante las cámaras.

Al final vimos una Melissa diferente a la que conocimos, pues se le vio planeando nominaciones junto con Carlos, hablando mal de sus compañeros con los que inicialmente tuvo una buena relación. Dejó a un lado su neutralidad y paso a pertenecer a un solo grupo, creando una mala atmósfera con los otros habitantes y cayendo en el juego de los demás, hasta el punto de llegar a la provocación.

Mindy Lahiri Is The New Carrie Bradshaw

"Guys don't break up with girls they secretly want to be with." - Mindy 

Let’s talk about the season finale of The Mindy Project for just a second. I was so excited for Mindy and her new love interest Charlie aka “I’m not a guy. I’m a man.” Charlie is exactly the MAN that Mindy needs – a caring, secure of himself and wise man. Sadly, during the season finale I was terribly disappointed, angry, sad, heck devastated!

How could Mindy have fallen for Danny Castellano AGAIN? He catfish her, he stood her up at the Empire State Building; he is selfish, controlling, and possessive! HOW?!?!?! WHY?!!?!?! Actually, I know why! For what seems to be FOREVER, tv shows, have led us women to believe that it is OK to forgive the jerk, that these men we tend to fall for will eventually get it, and they will want to be with us, full on, no hiding, no BS. But it is ALL A VILE LIE! It is! Let’s keep it one hundred percent real – we women usually fall for the sweet talk, and sadly (as a friend told me), we get “dicknotized.” Once these men whisper sweet things, what we want to hear, we automatically forget all the wrongdoing. It is frustrating and exhausting!

And, you see, Mindy did it, she fell for it. And back in the late 90s, and early 2000s Carrie Bradshaw did it too. She let go of wonderful, caring, sweet Aidan, and fell into Mr. Big’s lies. May I remind you all that HE LEFT HER THE DAY OF THE WEDDING! And, she forgave him!

I just don’t get it! Why do we (women) allow these situations to happen? And if you are reading this, and you say that you have never been in a similar situation, you are flat out lying! We have all done it. We let go of the “good guy,” the “silver fox,” only to go back to the guy who broke our hearts, the one afraid of commitment, the cheater, the liar. I mean, the list goes on!

TV shows make us believe that going back or staying with these men is OK! that, in an alternate universe, these men will change into the men we let go of – those we should have stayed with to begin with. Mindy Lahiri and Carrie Bradshaw have failed us! They were supposed to set the example for the rest of us, and not let us fall into the spiderweb of lies.

Instead, Carrie let go of perfect Aidan, and Mindy fell into the trap of Danny Castellano, and entirely shut out sexy silver fox aka Charlie.

I was here...I lived, I loved…I was here...

This post is not intended to be about how Cory Monteith died of an overdose, his drug abuse or any of that, there are plenty of those repetitive posts floating around the internet.

I, like many of you out there, consider myself a “gleek.” From the very first episode, I was the girl glued to my TV every Tuesday (now Thursday) night, to follow the incredible & brilliantly written series. I remember falling in love with Finn, with his quirky, yet naive persona- like how he got Quinn “pregnant”, or how Mr. Schuester  bribed him to get into the glee club… And, who can forget during Regionals season 1, how him and Rachel killed that rendition of "Faithfully" & "Don’t Stop Believing"…oh man, I can write for hours about the many moments that made Finn the core of the show.

I was in total shock when I read the news, it had to be a joke, a hoax, and it simply couldn’t be true. And, here we are, according to reports, his body has already been cremated.

Call me crazy, but I have been listening to Glee music non-stop since Saturday night. I have been paying particular attention to certain songs, which at the time when they were first performed, were amazing, but, now have taken on a whole different meaning. I catch myself getting teary eyed as I sing along to each track, thinking how surreal it is that each of the specific tracks I am going to share with you, is about death, the farewell of a loved one, a goodbye. I simply cannot imagine how difficult it is going to be for the cast to go back to the set, heartbroken, devastated, and missing a crucial puzzle of their family.

There were so many tweets that I came across with the hashtag #RIPCoryMonteith, some exaggerated, and perhaps out of line, and others sincere & heartfelt, and even the ones that although eerie, made perfect sense. Like the one from the scene when Finn presents Rachel with a star, or the very last scene from season 4 where he is on the phone with Rachel, or the saddest of them all, someone on twitter realized that the first song Cory ever performed as Finn was "Don’t Stop Believing", and how it was also his last… call it an ironic coincidence, at the end of the day it still makes us (his fans) extremely sad.

It is unfortunate that it didn’t matter the fantastic and loving support behind him, ultimately, Cory simply could not overcome the demon that is being an addict.

Cory Monteith is gone, but his brief career lives on, generations from now, people will remember the show Glee, his character Finn, and the Finchel love story.

Victoria's Secret Angels Strike Again

Victoria's Secret Fashion show has become not only a fashion staple, but a pop culture phenomenon as well - the pre-taped telecast aired on December 5th, and like every year, it did not disappoint!

I watch it every year, for several reasons actually. I absolutely LOVE all of the fabulous couture outfits. I resent not being ultra tall with skinny legs, Adriana Lima is my absolute favorite angel, and of course, being the music junkie that I am; I look forward to the performances, and the music that is part of each “trends segment” planned for the telecast.

Let’s break down some remarkable moments from the show, shall we?

The show kicked off with the trends segment called Circus – during the segment, the gorgeous, stunning and statuesque Adriana Lima graced the runway as a ringmaster. I died! I say this every year that she is the most gorgeous angel, PERIOD! She did not appear on the runway as much as I would have liked (neither did Alessandra Ambrosio), so I will assume that they are getting ready to hang their wings, and let the young rising angels take over.
 
The music that graced the segment played as follows:
1.    The Doors - Welcome to the other side
2.    Missy Elliot – Get Your Freak On
3.    Billy Idol - Rebel Yell

Rihanna was the musical choice for the Dangerous Liasons segment, seduction and sexiness galore! All while Miss Riri performed Diamonds, wearing a high slit black ensemble, pearls and all.

For the next segment, titled Calendar Girls, Bruno Mars performed Locked Out Of Heaven. 12 angels dressed appropriately embellishing every month of the year. Candice Swanepoel dawned Valentine’s Day (February) while Lily Aldridge dressed as a 4th of July goddess (her husband is Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill.)There was one model that did not make it down the runway. Karlie Kloss who wore a magnificent Native American headpiece – the outfit was controversial, and while you can find photos online, the outfit was axed from the telecast. 

 Bieber Fever hit the stage next – Justin Bieber performed an acoustic version of As Long As You Love Me, followed by Beauty And The Beat for the PINK trends segment. Justin kept a wandering eye as the hot models strut down the runway.

Bruno Mars came back to the stage for the Silver Screen Angels segment and performed Young Girls. This was the most couture & intriguing segment – jewels, draped fabric and itty bitty outfits. 

For the last segment of the night titled Angels In Bloom, Rihanna came back on the stage to perform a brand new song called Phresh Out The Runway. This was the segment where Alessandra Ambrosio wore the 2.5 million dollar bra.

Come Back To Me Glee!

It has only been a few days, and I am already going through MAJOR Glee withdrawals! So much so, that when I decided to listen to The Graduation Album; I just could not listen to the song Roots Before Branches without getting emotional (do not get me started about Finchel breaking up!)

Ryan Murphy and the rest of the Glee crew managed to keep all of us Gleeks at the edge of our seats. I refused to read ANY spoilers and patiently waited for the season finale to air. And oh boy! I was in for a huge shocker! Let’s talk about Kurt not getting into NYADA and Finn not getting into the Actor’s Studio, much unexpected and beyond heart-breaking!

And the biggest, saddest, heart-breaking and unexpected moment of the finale…….. Finn’s decision to join the Army, and send Rachel off to New York to pursue her dream. Rachel’s perseverance paid off, and for Season 4, we will get to see Ms. Berry take NYADA by storm. I don’t know about you, but that scene of Finchel in the car took me back to my high school years - to that time when you broke things off with your first love, and I got teary-eyed. Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) is able to convey such a believable heart-breaking moment, all of the crying as she sings Roots Before Branches alongside a very sad Finn.

As with every season finale; I will find myself occupied all Summer and will patiently wait till Glee Season 4 returns, wonder what the new season has in store for us Gleeks? I am looking forward to some amazing solos by Darren Criss (Blaine), perhaps the return of The Warblers with Sebastian. Or, can you imagine the twist if Jesse Saint James somehow manages to move to New York and there is a romantic encounter with Rachel? No, actually, I hope Finn reconsiders and does not join the Army and instead follows Rachel to New York. And, I also look forward to Schuester & Emma’s wedding, the birth of Sue Sylvester’s baby and possibly new students joining the Glee Club.

Well Gleeks sit tight because season 4 is scheduled to return in the Fall, but no specific date has been confirmed yet.

An Amazing Accomplishment For A Latino In Hollywood

This morning I woke up and of the first things I did was to check the Oscar nominations, which had taken place earlier this morning. I was pleasantly surprised to read that Demián Bichir was nominated as Best Leading Actor for his role in the tear-jerker movie A Better Life (if you have not seen this movie, it is must and you absolutely have to rent it as soon as possible.)


A lot of people were probably surprised and even upset that Bichir was nominated while other fantastic actors like Leonardo DiCaprio were snubbed. Most American shows did not even announced that Bichir was nominated, but to the Latino community and most specifically to the Mexican community, this nomination is an outstanding accomplishment and all Spanish media covered the announcement.

You see, people like myself who watched Spanish TV growing up, remember his telenovela days both at Televisa and at its rival TV Azteca. We also remember his marriage to Mexican singer Lisset Gutiérrez and his long romance to Mexican actress Kate Del Castillo (both shared the screen in the 2005 film American Visa.) He is slowly building his way into Hollywood and joins the ranks of Anthony Quinn, Salma Hayek, Adriana Barraza and other Mexican actors who have been nominated for the Oscars.


Although I truly hope that he takes the Oscar statuette, he is competing against Hollywood royalty (George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Gary Oldman) and French actor Jean Dujardin who took home the Golden Globe for Best Actor for his portrayal in the silent movie The Artist, as you can see, competition is tough! The Oscars will take place on Sunday February 26th starting at 4PM Pacific time on ABC, here are my predictions as to who will take the Oscars (main categories):

Food, Comedy and Rock & Roll!

      

 

I am pretty much obsessed with the Food Network and most recently with the Cooking Channel; whenever I watch TV I often focus on those channels. A few months ago a new show started on the Cooking Channel called Bitchin’ Kitchen and from the first episode I was hooked!

The show features Nadia Giosia, a spunky Italian gal who whips up unexpected, yet delicious concoctions as well as hysterical tips for your daily life (from impressing your in-laws, rockstar recipes to break up meals.) Nadia along with her crew: Panos, Hans & Spice Agent entertain millions of households in Canada & the United States. The Bitchin’ Kitchen concept started as a web series and slowly but surely broke mainstream and the show’s fan base grows every day.

 

I had the opportunity to sit-down with Nadia during her recent visit to San Francisco where she participated in the ZAP Festival. She took the time from her busy agenda to talk to me about everything, from how she got started, her love of fashion & music and she even answered questions that fans tweeted to me before the interview. It’s GRAMMYS TIME! OH YEAAAAHHH! (re-read this blog on 2/13/11, don’t forget)

The awaited nominations for the Grammys were announced “live” earlier today (the whole internet blew it for all of us West Coast peeps, what is up with that???) The academy decided to have an hour long show with special performances as the nominations were announced. Among the performers were Bruno Mars, B.O.B, Katy Perry, Miranda Lambert, Justin Bieber & Train. And it was sexy LL Cool J who was in charge of hosting the show.

Katy Perry opened the show with a dreadful performance of California Gurls (can someone explain to me how does she go from giving a terrific performance at the Victoria Secret Fashion’s Show to a lackluster and quite disastrous performance tonight??)

Bruno Mars gave a superb acoustic version of his hit Just The Way You Are, it is no surprise that his CD has been doing quite good. He is indeed a very talented song-writer.

Train also came on board and performed the hit Hey Soul Sister ( I must admit that I like Glee’s version with Darren Criss a lot better.)

Country called my name! it was my first time listening to Miranda Lambert’s song Only Prettier and I was hooked! “ I got a mouth like a sailor and yours is more like a Hallmark card. If you wanna pick a fight, well, I'm gonna have to say good night. I don't have to be hateful, I can just say, "Bless your heart"

Justin Bieber performed from London an acoustic version of his song Only Girl (personally, you will know who a real artist is if they can pull off a magnificent acoustic set.) I didn’t get Bieber Fever but I do think that this kid is talented and I can see a bit of a future Justin Timberlake in him.

Bruno Mars returned to the stage to perform with B.O.B the song Nothin’ On You (if it wasn’t part of your itunes library, then you were in another planet.) When they perform together, they just click and they never disappoint. 

And to close off the Grammy Nominations Special, B.O.B came on stage yet again to perform Don’t Let Me Fall (my favorite song from his CD.)
